Ghost Brigade - Isolation Songs (2009)
22 07 2009Melodic Death/Progressive Sludge
Ghost Brigade is a five-piece metal band from Jyvaskyla, Finland, formed in 2005. They have taken elements from melodic death metal, doom metal and progressive metal into their music. Wille Naukkarinen (guitars): “In Ghost Brigade, selling albums is not what it’s about. It’s about the feeling I get when I wrote a new song, which I only get when I know the song is good enough. The metaphor for that is “the fire”. That explains the title of the album. We are guided by fire.” A quote on their website states (by date of the debut release) “there’s nothing above or below us, no written word wise enough, just notes that carry the silent fire.”

[ReUp] Callisto - Discography
17 06 2009
Callisto - formed in 2001 - is a metal/progressive/experimental band from Turku, Finland. With their second album Noir, a follow-up for the widely recognized debut “True Nature Unfolds”, the Finnish five-piece has turned a new page in broadening musical expressions. Their cathartically dim and characteristic works are the means for the band to draw from a more diverse and timeless sound. Noir can not only be felt switching between various musical tendencies, but also between different decades. Callisto expand on the whole modern sludge genre innovators of Isis and likes with it’s subtle jazz leanings, heavy use of mellotron and experimentation with unconventional rock instruments such as the saxophone. Callisto’s short and cryptic lyrics contain strong Christian themes with references to artists such as Trouble and Woven hand.

Gwynbleidd - Nostalgia (2009
4 05 2009
Gwynbleidd began in 2002 as a two-man project melding all the prime qualities of black, death and folk metal. By 2004, Michal (guitars, clean vocals) and Maciej (rhythm guitars, bass, growls) had written more than an album’s worth of dark, melodic, aggressive yet melancholic material. When Adam (drums) joined the fold, the band recorded a four song demo/EP intended to showcase Gwynbleidd’s eclectic, progressive music.
