Clann Zu was an Australian band that formed in Melbourne in 1999. The forming members drew inspiration from an eclectic mix of musical styles, such as punk, rock, folk, electronic & classical. Their fusion of Celtic folk, electronic music and rock has created a unique epic soundscape full of powerful atmospheric sounds and off-beat instrumentation. Their songs are bilingual, utilising both Irish and English lyrics.
They were with G7 Welcoming Committee Records, an independent record label established by Chris Hannah and Jordan Samoleski – of labelmates Propaghandi – and Regal in 1997.
Their second album Black Coats and Bandages was released in June 2004. This saw a move away from the traditional Irish and folk influences which had characterised their first LP, “Rua”. Despite this stylistic departure they retained and indeed increased their use of the Irish language, with two songs (“t-ean ban” and “An deireadh sceal”) sung entirely in Irish.
The animated video for their song “Five Thousand More” created by vocalist, Declan, was featured in various festivals and online film and animation sites worldwide, including the 47th Cork International Film Festival. They subsequently released an animated video to accompany an Irish version of “Crashing to the Floor” in mid-2003.
Clann Zu released the following statement, announcing their break-up, on their website in May 2005, “Clann Zu regret to announce that it is no longer continuing to tour or record. Such is the life of a band. Benjamin and Liam will continue to tour and record with MyDisco on the Crashing Jets label and Declan De Barra will continue with his own solo project.”

SVANN is a unique formation on the polish scene. It consists of members of two bands: Marcin Blaszczyk, Szymon Brzezinski, Mikolaj Matyska and Rafal Ratajczak from a neoprog ensemble ABRAXAS and a polish legendary goth metal vocalist Anja Orthodox from CLOSTERKELLER who is one of two female vocalists, the other one being Kinga Bogdanska. The project proved short-lived. They issued only one album, “Granica czerni i bieli”, in 2003 and gave a few concerts.

The Dear Hunter is the full-time project of Casey Crescenzo, formerly of post-hardcore band The Receiving End of Sirens. The band got its name from the lead character of the story that he wrote to go along with the music. The sound is unlike that of Casey’s former band, with more alternative and progressive rock tendencies and a wider variety of instrumentation.

The highly acclaimed and influential Dutch band the Gathering is finally back releasing their 9th studio album: The West Pole. It has been 3 years since the bands last release Home and with their singer over 13 years Anneke van Giersbergen leaving the band in 2007, the band set their sails for a fresh new era. The band (celebrating their 20th anniversary this year) has during their past 8 studio albums showed that they have never been afraid of changing and evolving their musical style. The West Pole, with new singer Silje Wergeland, shows the Gathering is still standing amongst the pioneers of alternative rock music as they always have!
