James Franklin Murphy is an American guitarist. He is best known for his work in Bands as Agent Steel (1987-1988), Disincarnate, Death (1990), Obituary (1990-1991), Cancer (1993), Testament (1994-1996,1999), Konkhra (1997-1999), Explorers Club, Guest for Crotchduster (2004). He has also made contributions to various bands as well as released works under his own name. He founded the band Disincarnate. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2001, but has recovered. Currently he is working on a tribute album to Chuck Schuldiner. His most recent completed project was the production of the industrial death metal band Daath’s sophomore album, The Hinderers, which was released on Roadrunner Records.
