I listened to Cognitive three times in a row which is a good sign and this album is really catchy. The songs, despite having the same ‘mood’ (most of them have a sorrowful and contemplative tone), are diverse. They are full of different passages, not following obvious structures (verse/bridge/chorus – repeat it) and I think this is the highlight of Cognitive. The songs aren’t immediate, they need a couple of listening to get absorved and I really like it!
And what can I say about Martin Lopez and Steve DiGiorgio? These guys are monsters on their instruments, but despite of this Cognitive is not a “exhibitionist album”, both Martin and Steve are using its talent for the sake of music and not to show the world how good they are.
